Who needs Spring?
Fever! Fall fever. I have it. I have it bad. I can not wait for the leaves to begin to change. I am looking forward to the falling leaves. The cool mornings. Sipping my coffee while snuggling Bairno - OH, wait! I already do that. I am ready for the smell of Autumn. There is something about the smell in the air of Autumn that really gets to me way deep down. I can barely describe it - it’s the smell of the dew on the grass, the leaves on the ground, the ground preparing for winter, the mulching of the earth.
I love Autumn. I love that we do not have allergies that keep us congested. I love the colors of Fall - yellow, orange, red, brown, the dark greens of the evergreen trees.
I can’t wait to change my blog colors. I can’t wait to wear my boots. OH how I love boots. I am thinking about getting a new pair this year; it is about time. I am thinking maybe cowboy boots this year. But I like the dressier look of the English style boots. Boots! I just love boots. Boots. That’s an interesting word. Boots. Say it a few times and listen to yourself. Boots. Boots. Boots.
Oh, look a bird! I am all over the place today. Stick with me, I’ll try to stay on track.
I can not wait to start decorating for fall. I like the changing of the colors. Oops, sorry, I said that already. I like the gradual progression of the decorations heading into fall then a few extra touches for Halloween (Yes, folks we love Halloween) then a few minor changes and we are preparing for TurkeyDay. I love me some Turkey Day!
I am already making my shopping list for stocking my pantry with the goods for making lots of shortbread and gingerbread and pumpkin bread and pumpkin pie pecan pie and gingerbread and shortbread. Oops, already said those too. It is important to keep all those things on hand. OH, the smells of Fall!
And we musn’t forget to mention the costumes and the planning and the candy. The candy. That will be an interesting one this year. With Goro’s allergies I will need to find a source of special goods for him. Yes, Halloween marks the beginning of Candy Season. And I must not forget to add Candy Corn to my list (I lurve me some candy corn to rot my teeth out).
Do I have to wait until September 23 (the first official day of Autumn) to start my Fall decorating and clothes wearing or can I start on Tuesday (the day after Labor Day)? I love Autumn clothes. The longer sleeves, the layers, the boots (Oops said those already), the light sweaters, the jackets (blazer kind, not coat kind). Those Autumn clothes help hide the Autumn pounds from the Autumn food. If I had my druthers, I would start today. There’s another interesting word, druthers.
Oh, look another bird!
So how about you? Do you like Autumn? What are your favorite things about Autumn?
Updated - thanks, falwyn.
Yep, I love Autumn too. I especially love the cooler weather, and, of course, the pumpkin pie, pecan pie, your shortbread cookies, and Halloween candy. And the cooler weather. Oh, look a bird! ;)
MKs last blog post..It’s been a long time…
I’m holdin’ on to summer as long as I can. I loves me some fall (and spring), but man, that means winter isn’t far behind. Blech. It’s so awful for my anxiety and depression. But I feel the same way you do about fall! The colors, and the smells, and that crisp air! MMMMM! It does a spirit good!!!!
MK - you know where the food is. Was that the same bird I saw or was it a different one?
Triple M - I understand about SAD; I fight with it sometimes too, but I have found things that help. And down here, it doesn’t get as cold as it gets for you.

Um, did you mean October dear? Because the day after Labor Day IS September…
I love fall too! I don’t love that I am insufficiently prepared for my daughter’s birthday, and perhaps also for the start of homeschool - eek! Perhaps not so bad but still… ah well, I will try to enjoy the long weekend regardless.
P.S. If you want a photo-ish meme to try, you might check my blog. It was kinda fun… :)

falwyn - ACK! typo, must fix. I meant September 23 (the first official day of Autumn).
I do know that I need LOTS of lights on. I can’t stand it to be dark in the house, even during the summer, I still sometimes like extra light! That can help with the bummies.
FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL, FOOTBALL!!!! Uh, Did I say FOOTBALL?
