There’s a lot going on
I’ve uploaded some new pics of Bairno.
I finally validate in XHTML 1.0 Transitional. While that may mean nothing to many I have to admit I’m still learning about it myself. I do not yet validate in XHTML Strict. I still have 4 errors when using strict mode, but I plan on getting those worked out very soon. My CSS validates but also has some warnings that I need to read about first. I don’t yet clear with 508 (Accessibility) as I have four warnings there as well. But they are warnings not failures. I’ll work on that as well.
If I haven’t lost you yet . . .
I took out the music box in the right sidebar because of some strange codes in it I couldn’t change without making the player quit working. Instead of taking it down completely I created a little javascript for a popup with the help of HOTSOURCE. I made the little button, uploaded it to my server, linkylooed it, and added the javascript. So when you click on the music button it should open the SmockLady’s Wimpy Player and you can start it up. Now as much as I was greatful for HOTSOURCE’s help in writing the javascript it was not valid; I did have to change a fe things around and add some things and take out a few things as well, but it wasn’t hard.
As a part of the TCL Reading Challenge I found this great plug-in called Now Reading by Rob Miller. It is now in my right sidebar. I am hoping to get the Library Page looking better soon, but I have things functional for now. this is now my number one all time favorite plugin ever! Check it out and have some fun with it yourself.
I’ve also pared down a few things:
- I took out my Categories list form the left sidebar; let’s face it they are really for me anyway.
- I got my Calendar and monthly dropdown list combined in one Widget so that looks better.
- the blogrolls in the right sidebar will now only show 5 - 7 at a time, but the whole list is located here and linked to at the top of the blog in the navmenu.
- I’ve updated my About page and my Contact page.
- I’ve gotten my links transferred over and am working on my headers again. I’m trying to figure out if I should put them back up at the top again or just make some small pics via editing and put them in the sidebar. I’m really enjoying the slightly more minimalist look of this layout, but those headers really add to my blog name the SmockLady. I’ll play with it at my test blog and see what I like the best and then give it a test run over here for some input.

He’s so cute! To be honest, I dont understand all this website stuff. Maybe when I have more time, I’ll be able to read up on it and actually change things myself :) You do great though!
