Teens and Pre-teens

Sometimes they totally get along and laugh at with each other as they jest and tease. There is that level of sibling love that is totally about teasing and sarcasm. There is just something about seeing them grow up and leave the bickering teasing behind and play nice in that sibling way that only siblings can. Now it is still true that every now and again it goes too far as they just have not learned when to stop. But days like to today are fun. We are a family of sarcasm and full of it. Our tones and facial expressions say more than anything. This is true of just about any word exchange though.

Today Moggie is having a bit of a fluff problem with her hair. As a side affect of such atrocities (her words) some things have transpired one of which was this exchange:

I walked in to the den earlier to find my ten year old son walking over to the phone that was not ringing and “answer” it saying, “Hello? Oh, sure. Just a second.” He then walks over to his 13 year old sister and says, “Moggie, it’s for you, the 1970’s want their hair back.”

Today is a good day. No fighting, yet. No yelling, yet. There has not even been door slamming. Oops forgot. They don’t have doors right now. See, that’s how I sometimes handle the door slamming. Actually, the door stealing to prevent the door slamming is really more about saving the door frames - we rent. I do not want to have to pay for new door frames. But hey, at least I don’t have to hear that slamming. :o)

  1. OK, that totally made me LOL! We are a sarcastic family, too! It’s fun! But, um, it can also get out of hand!

  2. Triple M - what’s really funny is when they decide to start insulting each others’ mother. :) And then I get in on it, too, telling insulting Yo Mama jokes. They still haven’t quite figured that one out. Since I am their Yo Mama.

  3. Fun-ny!! Glad to know we are not the only family that loves both each other and sarcasm.

Tell you ds, kudos to him on the line!

Grateful for Graces last blog post..Happy Birthday, Cutie Pie!

  4. HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  5. Grateful for Grace - what’s bad is when I write something sarcastic in a blog post and I really am being funny in my own sick sense of it all and no one quite gets it because they can not see my expression or hear my tone.
