Sick! That’s what we are, sick. Sick. Sick.

Well, it all started Monday evening when the princerella told us she had a “snuffy nose”. That’s what it sounded like anyway. And I guess that if one has a snuffy nose that’s how it’s gonna sound, “snuffy nose”. The next day brought Princerella a head full of yuck and a sore throat to Mog. By Wednesday we were all feeling rather gross and sore throaty and fevery and coughy and snuffy nosey. No one slept last night, at least not very well, anyway. Coughing could be heard throughout the house. Gross, I tell you, just gross: gagging, coughing, sniffling, fevery, achy. So this morning we took the worst three to the doctor to confirm what I already knew, but wanted to hear anyway, it’s a cold, viral, can do nothing for it but treat the symptoms. Yeah, I really did know that, but Princerella was supposed (yes, past tense) to have her birthday party tomorrow and we’ve never had anything fly through our house like this before getting every. single. person. sick. (except for Pink Eye in the fall of 2003). We are highly contagious for 7 to 10 more days! Get that. UGH! Stay away, stay far, far away! Considering it started with the first one on Monday I’m hoping we are over it by the end of the weekend.

Now I’m going to go make some soup and then we will all curl up on the couch or floor or somewhere and stare at the TV for a few hours then I will happily drug every child in the house to cause sleep within these walls and stick them all on their individual bed and close the door behind me to find myself some nice quiet moments before begging a Benadryl to find me some sleep and maybe, just maybe one night of rest will help us all.

p.s. having only one roll of toilet paper and 1/2 a box of Puffs with lotion (because it doesn’t tear up the noses) left in the house, I guess I’ll be making a trip to the store tomorrow at some point, probably first thing. I’ll send out a flyer so you’ll all know to stay away.

Update, 11 August 2006, 8:56 am: My chest is rattling and my left lungs desperately wants to be cut out of my chest so I do not have to feel the pain anymore. Clear the isles I’m coming through. On the list of things to buy:
toilet paper - too many girls in this house to go without
cough drops - every one is hacking
paper towels - we are just out
cough drops - we sound like we are trying to share our lungs
more juice - man, we drink alot
cough drops - did I list that one already?
Tylenol - must have Tylenol
cough drops - oh, yeah, sorry, said that already
Puffs with lotion - for all things green; our noses are raw

  1. Oh, Sardines! We hate to hear that. Drink a lot of fluids and happily take a lot of purple stuff.

  2. UUGHH! Did that for pretty much the whole month of June! Got sick in B’Ham and it was the hardest cold I’ve ever tried to shake off! Miserable! I think that virus is getting more and more evil DNA or RNA or whatever nucleic acid compounds viruses use to replicate and wreak their havoc.

    We’re praying for the BXXXXXXs!!

We’re praying for the BXXXXXXs!! Call us if you need anything - trips to da sto’ are a daily occurrence it seems like, lately.

  4. Thanks, Brad. I’ve actually gotten a little concerned for self today - the left lung is in severe pain and if it weren’t for other situations right now I think I would have parked my butt in the ER or found a doc that would see a pregnant women using a Midwife.

I think the CowBoy has developed an ear infection and since he saw the doctor yesterday I am going to see if they will call something in for him (being the weekend and all). I want something handy, having been there done that so many times, if his fever spikes again and he complains about it again I think it’s time for an anitbiotic. But then again - I’m usually slow to give meds for an ear infection - he has never had one before so I may wait, treat the pain, and see how he does.
