Reviews and contests

More than a year ago (maybe 2 now) I signed on to run BlogHer ads on my site. I like the idea of being paid for having the ad not just waiting for someone to click through the ad. I didn’t like the idea of being dependent on a click through to get paid a penny for that click. I also didn’t like the idea of not being in charge/control of what ads are on my blog. With BlogHer ads I have the opportunity to say, “hey, I really don’t like that ad on my site.” Once or twice along the way I’ve put a hold on an ad or two that was offered up, but for the most part I think the ads are fine and informative and I think my readers are smart enough to decide for themselves if they want to click through or read the ad on their own. The BlogHer women are a great group of ladies to work with as well.

Well, when BlogHer ads decided to start offering a review program as well I signed up for that pretty darn quick. When they get new review offers they send out questionnaires to see who fits the qualifications to do the review. It’s about demographics. This is good and understandable. Even when a large number of bloggers fit the demographic not everyone gets to participate. I’ve been waiting my turn, hoping it would come soon.
