Moving

I have spent the entire day moving.

I wish it was to a different house, but it’s not. It’s just rearranging of rooms.

We live in a three bedroom house: our room, three boys in one room and three girls in the other room. It’s tight. Princerella, I’m ashamed to say, is 8 years old and still sleeping in a toddler bed. We don’t have room for another twin sized bed. The girls have a set of bunkbeds that is terribly, woefully, dangerously falling apart and needs to be replaced, two dressers, and the toddler bed in their room.

The boys have a single over double bunkbed and the toddler/crib convertible that Bairno is in and one dresser in their room. The boys room is the tiniest.

SmockDaddy and I have the “master” bedroom. We have a king sized bed and three dressers (mine, his, and one for the boys) and it’s wall to wall.

This house has a small living room/seating room/dining room thing at the front of the house near the entrance. The owners (years ago) took in the back porch area and made a family room/den.

I’ve been using the small front room as my office/sewing studio since we moved in here back in March of ‘05. It’s worked great for the most part. I’m able to keep all my sewing things that don’t need to be messed with or things that could possibly hurt someone.

We’ve made a huge decision that I don’t really like, but that we need to act on to make certain situations better.

• My office sewing room is being transformed into the family room/den. The current family room/den is being transformed into my sewing room AND our bedroom.
• Our room (master) is being transformed into the boys’ room.
• The boys’ room is being transformed into Princerella’s room.
• The other girls will stay where they are.

The only thing I really don’t like about this is that my “new” bedroom sewing room is right behind/off the kitchen and is the thoroughfare for going in and out of the back yard. Also where we cook out and have friends over.

We also have still to figure out where to get a double bed mattress set (we have a frame) and a new twin bed and mattress set (for Princerella).

For now I will concentrate on figuring out how to make the den work as a bedroom AND sewing studio.

The main reason for all of this is for Princerella. With all her special needs we really need to give her more room than she currently has and be able to put a few tools for her in her room to help her out physically. She needs a place to go when she needs to be alone and work out some of her issues. She needs some sensory integration items at the ready and she doesn’t have those. Since we have had to cut back on her PT/OT/ST because of lack of $$ we need to do what we can here for her. We need to find a way to get some things like this as well.

I’m tired and worn out from today’s moving of very heavy furniture. So I am off to lullaby land, I pray.
