Listening for answers

Sometimes things happen in life that make hearing the answer of a prayer you whisper quietly each day so much easier to hear.

Even if that answer is still being spoken, quietly and slowly yet very clear in all it’s words.

Sometimes those quiet, slowly spoken words are not all the words you want to hear.

But because they are soft and steady it is ever so clear that understanding and accepting are two different things.

Some times parts of that answer are not so quiet and come from sources that should not surprise, but still do.

Some times those parts of that answer are no more than a simple, “See, I told you so.”

Some times those parts of that answer are simply proof of what we already know, but want to ignore.

Some times those parts of the answer are no more than a simple, “This is what I want to protect you from. Do not fear; it is just a reminder.”

Some times those parts of the answer are no more than a kind way of pushing us along to take the next step we find so hard to take.

Some times those parts of that answer are sad, but necessary.

But all times, God knows.

God knows where He is leading us and why we are going there.

God knows what we need to do and when we need to do it.

God knows and some times He tells all.

God knows and some times He only shares a little bit at a time.

God knows and now so do we.

Mostly.

  1. Can’t wait to hear what you are talking about? Hope it is good news for you and your family. We beat Terry last night 7-0. Everyone is talking about us being the team to beat this year. I hope we can weather the hype. SF received news this week that she was accepted at Auburn and Judson has increased her scholorship package to full tuition and board. Too bad she does not want to go there.

  2. this was really powerful… And I know it pertained to your mysterious news, but still in my own current place- it was powerful.

    misty’s last blog post..These are a few…

  3. I read that prayer is our way of talking to God and that meditation is how we listen. I need to listen, sounds like you have been.

  4. Holley - So Auburn it is. Well, good for her. Judson is a good school, but both her parents went to Auburn - it is in her blood.

misty - well thank you. I am glad it was able to help you in some way too. Sometimes I have to tell myself these things, you know.

m~ - I am trying to, but I often feel so inept at doing a good job of listening.
