Lemme be a lemming (or a lemon as the day would have it). Ask me some questions, I’ll tell you no lies. I need some back up NaBloPoMo quick posts. I am only able to write these days when SmockDaddy is home so this one is going to be short as he is not here right now. There are baths to juggle, dishes to clean, laundry to fold tonight. No more postponing these. IF the children are not clean tomorrow at school and co-op they may be taken to the town fountain and hosed off before giving them back. They are not really that dirty. Really. I mean it. The dishes? Yes, we need to eat breakfast off of something clean. And well the clothes that go on the children must be clean or the baths will be a waste of precious time.

Bairno. will. not. take. a. cup.
Apparently it is not his brand. Although, truth be told, I think the problem is more in the container than the brand.
I give him a cup, he gives me a grunting sound of discussed, pushes it away, yells “I don’. I don’” (don’t without the t), cries “mama, mama” while giving me the milk sign to nurse.

I had a recent conversation with one of my children the other day and it began like this:
“Mama, I have a hypothetical situation and subsequent hypothetical questions for you. OK? I’m NOT naming names, so don’t ask.”
Did you hear what you just said? I believe you have just ruined your hypothetical.
“Drat! Never mind. I’ll try again tomorrow.”
hahahahaha. They just don’t get it at this age, do they?

I want some chocolate. Or a Manhattan ((I like mine dry and on the rocks)). Better yet, both. And a full night’s sleep. I realized the other night that it has now been over a year (October ‘06) since I last slept more than 4 hours at a time.
Manhattan
(From Drink of the Week)
1 1/2 oz. Bourbon - we recommend Maker’s Mark
1/4 oz. Sweet Vermouth or Dry Vermouth
dash Angostura Bitters (optional)
Garnish - Maraschino Cherry
Combine all ingredients in cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well and strain into a Cocktail glass.
Dry Manhattan
use Dry Vermouth
Garnish - olive
Perfect Manhattan
use a 1/4 oz. of Both Sweet & Dry Vermouth
Garnish - lemon twist
—–
A Manhattan on the rocks can be built right in a Rocks glass filled with ice.

Princerella has finally mastered a complete two foot jump off the ground on her own. She has also mastered the spelling of her name (verbally) and can write it own her own as of this past weekend. She has been working on these skills for over two years. This is major for her. She is finally gaining some control over her left hand and her verbal skills still cause her anguish and heartache and aggravation, but they are better. I can’t even imagine what it is like for her inside that precious head of hers: to know things, to know she knows things, but to have such neuro-physical trouble with getting it all out for others to know she knows things. I want her to be able to run, and jump, and skip, and hop, like all the other girls at the playground, but seriously, I don’t worry near as much about that for her as I do about her abilities to prove to the world that she’s not dumb.
I’m out of Nexts at this point.

Are you implying that after the hosing your children will be given back? To whom will they be given? This is not a hypothetical situation.
If those rocks are not dry, do not try walking on them; you might slip.
Nashville sucks. Why would you want to go to Nashville? You know I am allergic to country music.
Holley - I am implying that they will get their annual hosing and be returned to me (Yes, I hope). I am allergic to country music too, but there is much else in the form of culture there. It does not matter now anyway. The decision has been made.
Drink the Manhatten, nurse the Bairno, pray that the liquor will put both of you to sleep. I know all about the nursing–we’re five months on and show no signs of stopping. Ian already has two teeth! I’m nursing a shark! Sorry I haven’t been reading as much lately, but I did catch up on your last few posts. School and babies keep me busy around this place.
I’m sorry that Nashville is out. It would have been great for you and your family. I hope God opens the other window soon. Love you
Thinking of you. Just when we were at the panic stage we found an unpaid invoice and they paid it by direct bank credit transfer. It felt every bit as good as when we heard that the East Coast of the UK had been saved from flooding by a hand-width less of water than the flood wall defences.
I’m so glad things worked out for you.
As for nursing, each child is different. No book can tell you when your child is ready to change to a beaker. Go with what you both feel.
Melanie’s last blog post..More Christmassy Bits + belated sad news.
I love the hypothetical question question (hehehee)
Very funny!
