Happy birthday to me!
It’s not really my birthday. But it feels like it is. I love my camera. I know I’ve said that once or twice before, but just thought I’d say it again. I got it last year (with a little tax $$ help). I am still learning all kinds of things about it and I use it daily. Got that? DAILY. There is one thing that bothers me about my camera though. It’s not and “I like my camera, but” kind of thing. It’s not even a negative about my camera. I like it’s size, yet it confounds me sometimes. It is a perfect size for my smaller hands, but not too small for my husband’s larger hands. It feel good in my hands. I like the weight; it’s steady and strong, but not too heavy around my neck or tiring on my arms for holding long lengths of times. Because I always have some bag or another with me (purse/diaper/book) it is a hassle (for me) to carry everywhere I go. But I like carrying a camera with me everywhere I go. I am a picture snapping nut. I’d rather get 100 bad shots and one good shots than miss that one good shot completely. when we are planning things out like a trip or a day at the zoo or whatever place/event it is my really awesome camera goes with me. It’s planned and that’s that. I make it work.
But what about that trip to the library or the coffee shop or the unplanned trip to the park? I tend to miss out. I can’t wait until the day I don’t have so many things (read: baby stuff) to haul around. When that day comes expect to see my really awesome camera in it’s bag on my shoulder at any given minute I am not at home. But for now, these present days, I have been dreaming of a really good pocket camera. Yes, a mom camera. A throw it in the bag go anywhere, everywhere, in my pocket, kind of camera.
That is where the birthday thing comes in. My birthday is on Easter. March 23rd. I will be 39. And that is 39 for the first time around. This year SmockDaddy let me pick out a mom camera. I had narrowed it down to two that I really liked and a third one that would do if the prices were too high on the others. While over in M-town the other day we were at the mall and I took a little stroll into the camera store where a trusted friend works to check out his fine opinion. And his opinion agreed with one of my top two choices. The price was on the top end of what we had set, but still within that amount. I went with his advice since he had a bit more info on why that point and shoot (mom camera) is his favorite. AND. It came in a pink color option. Seriously, what else could I want in a camera if I can get it in pink? ;)
For fun, look what my camera can do (no Photoshopping necessary).

Ok, I clicked on your picture, which took me to your Flicker page. And I saw the others. And I thought “Ooohhh…..I like that shirt.”
And then I saw the title was “new shirt!” No way! I liked it before I even knew it was the new super-duper comfy one!

See, now you have to share which were your top choices, and why. Because I too am in the market for a “mom camera.” (And by in the market, I really mean wishing I was in the market.) Actually I love my SLR, but sometimes portability must come first. (Also it needs cleaned and they say that I have allow at least a month and HELLO I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT A CAMERA FOR A MONTH, ARE YOU CRAZY??) And I want something that will still be flexible and not drive me positively BONKERS after using an SLR….
