OK so I’m not Archimedes, but I found it! I have been looking for this book for, oh, about 11.5 years now. I found it and I cried (yes, I’m still hormonal!).
I saw it when I was pregnant with Mog at a book tent that was making a stop in town. I cried when I read it. Most of the books were half off their retail price and I didn’t have the money to buy it then and then I forgot the name of it. I have searched everytime I go to any bookstore for it. I’ve never forgotten the cover art, but I just couldn’t remember the title. And I could clearly remember the story: It’s the story of a little girl (from her point of view) about all the giants around her and her stages of growing up to be a ‘giant’ too. I remember telling my sister and my mother about it one day and how much I wanted to find that book and get it some day. In usual fashion they gave me a book one day that they were so thrilled with finding because it was my book. It was nothing like my book! I really hate that book and to this day that book annoys me to no end. Not because they gave it to me, but because I just plain don’t like it - it gives me the willies, the heebie jeebies. It has nothing to do with giants and it’s not the story of a little girl! Anyway, I am going to get this book somehow. I find myself again, not having the extra cash to make the purchase as I need to order it used somewhere. It’s not that expensive and I hope to find it in hardback, but right now I just don’t need to spend the extra cash. I have now blogged about it and recorded it so even if I forget it’s title again (which I doubt I will) I have it safely tucked away and added to my amazon wish list. Now that I have the title correctly branded on my head blog, I can search for it on ebay and alibris and other places. But I am so much fonder of the old cover art than the new (I found it at Amazon.co.uk), but honestly, I just want the book.

Just saying Hi! I am a friend of Wondergirl’s in South Louisiana — I’m glad you guys were able to get together on the Fourth! Looked and sounded like a fun time! BTW, I feel the exact same way about Love You Forever, which I also received from my mom. :-) I’m trying your white bread recipe today — we recently started making our own bread, so hopefully I’ll be successful with your recipe!!! Have a good day!
Now the real question is, how many copies of that book are you going to get from us blog-reading friends? ;)
MK, I don’t know, I said I was going to buy it - but you guys need it too since Little Susan has entered your lives.
Debby, hi. Glad to know that books gives someone else the creeps; it gets such rave reviews. Anyway, I hope you like the recipe; I’ve got a few more I need to put up, but ‘ve been so busy. I’m picking up a 25# sack of white wheat on Friday and I’m going to grind them and make some more bread this weekend trying some new recipes. If they work well and are liked I’ll post them too.
Wowie Kazowie! Grinding your own wheat!?! How do you find the time?!?!? I look forward to some more good recipes!
I like the cover on the first book better too. You may could find a copy of this one on http://ww.half.ebay.com.
I never did like the other book you mentioned either. It didn’t give me the creeps or anything. I just thought it was a little depressing so I never read it to any of my babies.
You’re not going to get your wheat order on Friday. Ozark has canceled all their orders for a couple of months to re-organize. Apparently they are having some financial difficulty and need to sell some real estate. I’m disapointed because I had an order of 50 pounds of hard winter white wheat. Still have half a bucket left that will have to last me a couple of months.
Kay, my wheat order is not coming from Ozark - I got that notice too - I’ve ordered elsewhere. I got confirmation yesterday afternoon that it should arrive by Friday.
Where did you order from?
