Edumacation at hoam

I have been working hard these past couple of days to merge the data from our (now defunct) home school blog into this one. It was just too much to keep up with two blogs. I originally separated them out so that I could keep all the home school stuff separate. I had planned on letting the children do some blogging over there too. It was just too much and really quite ridiculous to do it that way. I have this tendency to hyper-organize. You know, my files have files and those files have sub-files. Yeah, that. I am simplifying all of my life, not just the stuff. Oh, the stuff. I have a carport full of stuff, but the rain has kept me from hauling it off. Boy do I have ADD of the thoughts tonight! My whole point was this:

  • I missed getting a post up yesterday (yes, it made me very sad) because of all the behind the scenes work and waiting too late in the day and then a baby needing me and wah, wah, wah, yada, yada, yada. Actually, I have a post I wrote yesterday, but it got left in draft because I had a few links to get in and spell check before the baby needed me. The way I look at it right now is that it is called Blog365, right? So I get one free day not to post since we actually have 366 days in 2008. That means I have already used my freebie. Here’s the rules. what do you think?
    • Blog everyday for 365 days.
    • Feb.29th is a Free Day and will be the Blog365 day of rest! (Thanks Leap Year)
    • You do not HAVE to post to the same blog as long as you post everyday.
    • No internet? Write your post locally and post it once you are back on the grid.
    • Computer Broken? Grab some paper and do some old school blogging.
    • A post is a post, not everything has to be in writing. Photos, YouTube videos, and the like are all considered content.
    • Have fun, because that’s the whole point!
  • If you have a link to our home school blog saved or bookmarked, go ahead and delete it – it will be down by the first of next week.
  • I will get the new school pages made public by the first of next week – I pray. I am working on correcting all the bad links the merger caused to break.
  • I did a rather poor job of publicizing that blog anyway. I would love it if you are a home schooler that read that blog or reads this one if you share the information about my links and pages (of course, once I get them up).
  • You can find all the school posts under the category of Schooling (see tab below on home page), as well as all the tags on the bottom of each post.
  • I am still looking for that camera battery charger.
  • I am excited, I get to teach a friend how to smock tomorrow. And to a friend who did not like “that sort of thing” when we first moved here. Changing the world one stitch at a time.

I think this applies too. I mean, yesterday you had no internet. You were too busy to have internet. ;)

I wanna learn how to smock!!! ;) Actually, I do think you need a you tube video or one here on your site that shows the very basics. As if you aren’t busy enough…… :)

I’m sorry to say that I didn’t know you had a separate homeschool blog.
Good luck with your 365 blogging. I barely made it through November.
My mom sews and smocks, I can’t even thread a needle.

Yay for teaching friends to smock! I started my Easter dresses this week.

On a related note – I got some cute, fabric finders 100% cotton floral for $2/yard at THE SMOCKING BIRD. What a delightful surprise. I had already bought floral fabric online for Easter SS bishops, but I think this floral will become summery angel sleeve bishops next.
