Do NOT ignore your children please.
I hope this post goes through. Like last night, our service provider is acting up again and really giving me a headache. I finally found the piece of code that was giving my blog design such fits in IE. I looked through my CSS last night until my eyes fell out of my head. I had to go wash the dust off of my eyeballs and slather them Vaseline to get them to slide back in my eye sockets. They were dry, scratchy, achy, and blind by the time I went to bed. I really did not want to walk away from the codes until I got it working properly.
I woke up this morning, hooked up the coffee IV and began the code hunting process all over again. I searched for about an hour and decided I needed to look at it a different way. I hit the print button so I could sit at the table. I had to go pick up the first of the quilts that was ready, and run a couple more errands in town. Because if I am driving 1 hour and 15 minutes round trip at these gasoline prices ($3.00/gallon), my gas is going to be worth the trip. The errands, especially the quilt, is a priority as the time it is going to take to bind them all is going to put me in my grave - I think. I am very excited about this first one. This is Bairno’s quilt I picked up today.
When I got back from the errands and got things put away I sat down at my desk to take a look at the CSS. I was almost to the point of swearing when I decided to just change layouts. The problem I could not find was really more than I wanted to deal with anymore. I pulled out an old layout form the design vault and just do not like it anymore. I have this one I have worked really hard on and I like it. I like the ease with which I can change my colors for the seasons. I think I am going to have to bake SAJ some more shortbread for some newly colored clothes (purples and pinks and reds and greens) for the Advent and Christmas season.
Back to the code: I looked and looked, but I think you get the picture. I finally decided to give myself some real credit and accept that my codes were correct and that something else was amiss. See that’s one of the really great things about FireFox (go get it), it sort of self-corrects mistakes. Or at least ignores certain mild issues and can still make a site behave the way it is supposed to behave. I started looking at the content on the sidebar itself instead of the design of the sidebars. Yep, that is where it was. At some point I must have deleted a > off of one of the list in the sidebars, because that threw the whole thing off. *sigh*
Boy, did I get off track. The title. During all that time I spent looking for what was wrong (practically all day) I decided it would be a great idea to ignore my children and let them run wild doing whatever they could to the house or any of its contents herein 1 And this is just a portion of what happened during that two minute span when I turned my back while I washed some dirty dishes.
- No. I did not, but today was one of those days in which it seemed like some one stole my perfectly behaved children and replaced them with terrible, horrible, no good, very bad stranger robots whose inner workings were being controlled remotely by some evil Borg scientist out to get me. And I swear when I taped the markers to the ceiling, the children grew suction cups on their hands and feet to get them. OK, so it was only the three and six year old, but still that made it seem like there were 63 extra children in the house. And I bet that is the longest footnote disclaimer you have ever read. ↩

awww…don’t stress too much. I think that’s a great look for the cat. really!

Ann - well, she (the cat) was stupid enough to sleep through it so I guess since they are “washable” markers I’ll just toss her outside the next time it rains. ;)
I wonder if you will let them work on Saks next, please? He’s looking a bit drab these days. White is so not the new black.
It’s so festive for the holiday season!!! (what a patient kitty!)

OK, THAT is some funny stuff. Sorry, but a colored on cat is a new one for me! ;)
MMM’s last blog post..Worn Out!
I’m sorry but I cannot help but laugh out loud. I too have a child that loves to color on things that should not be. Wednesday she using Crayola’s red to draw on my brand new throw pillows and the rug. At least our cat was safe. :)
