So is this recession kicking you in the butt, too. Or is it just me? Yeah, thought so. Do you want to do something about it? Do you wish it would all go away? Do you want to help your fellow friends and bloggers or do you just want sit by and watch it all go sour? So maybe it’s bigger than some of us, but we can all still help. Do you want help, but don’t really have any of your own to share around? Yeah, thought so. Do you want to know how to do just that? Sure you do so I’m going to tell you.

Kristen of Motherhood Unscripted has come up with a great idea called Blog the Recession. It’s simple really. (and there’s like prizes and stuff if you participate; go read – but not until you are through here.) When you open your feed reader to do you daily blog reads and read through all those lovely blogs that are listed there, take a few extra seconds and click through to those blogs. Seriously, it only takes a few seconds to click through and let that blog load. How does that help you ask? Well, sit back and let me explain it – those ads on those blogs pay those bloggers to be seen. There are all kinds of different ads on blogs; here’s a very basic rundown: BlogHerAds pay per view, Google ads pay per click, Affiliate style ads pay per click and/or signup/purchase, others pay % per signup/purchase. There are probably still other ads. Some bloggers manage their own ad space and advertisers pay them to host an ad on their blog and if there are not enough ad views from that blogger, the advertiser may not re-up a contract.

(Here is where I insert the more tag so don’t stop reading, click through and read some more, m-K?)

So all you have to do is click through from your feedreader to your blog reads daily. You don’t have to leave great, funny, long, epic comments or anything (but for those of us who like comments and the emotional trick-or-treating that blogging gives us then come on and boost our egos and leave us a comment too). If you care enough If you have even a few more seconds, click around on their blog a bit and read some old post or see what else is lurking in the background that you forgot about or never knew was there; those extra page views help too.

Speaking of ads I have a new one over on the sidebar from Amazon. It’s a click through to sign up for Amazon.com Prime. We’ve had Amazon Prime for a number of years. Here’s how it works, you pay a flat fee to Amazon and all your orders through Amazon.com are shipped 2nd day free. We’ve had Amazon.com Prime for over six years now and we have saved hundreds in shipping over those years. As a homeschooling family we order tons of books. As a family who loves books and who loves to have our own books we order tons of books. As a homeschooling family who loves books and who lives in a town where there is not a single bookstore (or place to buy books) for less than 40 miles this is a great thing for us (especially since we only have one car). We love going to bookstores and holding the books in our hands. We love spending hours in book stores choosing which books we want. Even on vacation my children beg to stop at bookstores where ever we go. It’s awesome to have such a love of books passed down to our children. For each person who signs up for Amazon.com Prime through my link, my family will get $12.00. That’s a nice percentage of return for something that already saves us money in the long run.

I’m working on a small revision of the blog (nothing major) just some tweaking here and there and it will include more linkage and ad-age to the sidebar. I’m going back to work on the sexy Blogroll too. So there are two more reasons to click through – come watch the changes going on; your head will not spin too much, I promise.
